The men did not admit the crimes

Three brothers who abused six-year-old girls were found guilty of sexual crimes against children.

The abuse took place between 1996 and 2010 in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria and Leeds.

Shaha Amran Miah, 48, Shaha Alman Miah, 47, and Shaha Joman Miah, 38, were found guilty at Preston Crown Court on Monday after a lengthy trial.

The men, who pleaded not guilty, were arrested and will be sentenced on February 21, 2025.

Amran Miah, of Bismarck Street, Beeston, Leeds, sexually assaulted three children and faces 16 sexual offenses; two were charges of intimidation and one was charges of kidnapping.

Joman Miah, of Warmsworth Road, Warmsworth, Doncaster, sexually abused three children and faces 40 offences.

The court heard the girls abused by Amran Miah and Joman Miah were aged six or seven when it began and the abuse continued for several years.

Middle brother German Miah, of Rowland Terrace, Leeds, faced three charges of sexual offenses against a girl.

Derek Artis, district attorney for CPS North West’s rape and serious sexual offenses unit, praised the victims for speaking out.

He said the CPS was working with Cumbria Police “to build a strong case to present to a jury, including eyewitness statements and extensive telephone evidence”.

Mr Artis said: “Shaha Amran Miah, Shaha German Miah and Shaha Joman Miah groomed and exploited the girls in this case from a young age with no regard for the impact such appalling abuse would have on their lives.”

She added that she hopes victims can now “begin to move forward knowing that the men who abused and exploited them will face justice.”
