Michigan sex offender sentenced to 35 years in prison after convincing a woman to send him explicit photos of children

NETHERLANDS, Michigan (FOX 2) – A. Michigan A man on parole for sex crimes has been sentenced to decades in prison after preying on a child.

Jared Hanner, 32, of the Netherlands was first convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in 2015. Last year, he got into trouble with the law again after convincing a woman he met online to send him sexually explicit photos. a child he was looking after.

The woman, Tasha Erin Blake, 38, of Grand Haven, complied before confessing to police. He is currently serving 18 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to distributing child pornography.

While searching Hanner’s phone, police found sexually explicit images and requests for photos of himself, authorities said. He pleaded guilty to charges of sexual abuse of a child and penalties for registered sex offenders and was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison.

“Crimes of sexual exploitation of our children are particularly egregious,” said U.S. Attorney Mark Totten. “We will continue to hold sexual predators and their accomplices accountable, working with our law enforcement partners to achieve some justice for minor victims and prevent future harm.”
