Moscow’s Tagansky court fined Telegram 4 million rubles for failing to remove several channels containing calls to separate the Urals from the rest of Russia. According to TASS, this situation is stated in the court’s decision.

Roskomnadzor sent Telegram notifications to the administration demanding the removal of various resources containing calls for Ural residents to secede from the Russian Federation. The list also includes channels that propagate far-right ideas, as well as channels that call for support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The first to pay attention to these channels were prosecutors, who transferred the data to Roskomnadzor according to the court decision.

“As part of the fulfillment of the requirements for taking measures to restrict access to information resources, Roskomnadzor sent notifications in electronic form to the owner of the Telegram information resource, the organization Telegram Messenger Inc., regarding violation of the information dissemination procedure. The document states that within the period established by federal law – one day from the moment of receipt of notifications In – it was stated that the information disseminated in violation of the law was not deleted from the Telegram information resource.

The Tagansky court reportedly imposed a fine of 4 million rubles on Telegram for refusing to remove banned information in Russian (part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code) on October 15. However, the reason for bringing the messenger to administrative responsibility was not called. so far. In August, Telegram was fined 4 million rubles for a similar offense.

Since February 2021, Roskomnadzor has been regularly drawing up administrative protocols regarding social networks and messengers that do not delete calls for participation in unauthorized actions, including by minors, and the publication of other information that is prohibited to be disseminated in Russia.

So, in July, the Tagansky court imposed a fine of 3 million rubles on the messenger. for not removing calls for anti-government action. In June 2023, Telegram was fined 4 million rubles for refusing to delete 32 channels that, according to the court, published false information about the war in Ukraine.
