Maidstone man charged with attempted murder after stabbing in Chatham High Street

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a street stabbing.

Ray Chirisa was arrested after officers were called to the scene near Rhode Street. Chatham Around 20.05 on Monday, October 28th.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, they encountered a victim in his 30s who was being treated for stab wounds.

The condition of the man, who was later taken to hospital, was stated to be serious but stable.

Chirisa from Hermitage Lane maidstoneHe was arrested and detained in Gillingham the same evening.

He was charged today (October 30) on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public place.

The 33-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.

A police spokesman said: “The incident is being treated as an isolated incident and detectives are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to contact the appeal line.”
