SFA lifts Stamford Catering’s suspension over gastroenteritis cases

Stamford Catering Services also took additional steps, such as replacing cracked electrical outlets and covers.

The SFA said it would still place the caterer under “close surveillance” to ensure the company complies with food safety requirements once the suspension is lifted.

The agency added that it is evaluating findings from investigations into the gastroenteritis outbreak and will impose sanctions if food operators are found to be in breach of the Environmental Public Health (Food Hygiene) Regulations.

Those found guilty of violating these regulations could be fined up to $2,000. If the offense continues after conviction, offenders may be fined up to $100 for each day or portion thereof that the offense continues.

“Food safety is a shared responsibility and the SFA wishes to remind food operators to adhere to good food and personal hygiene practices at all times,” the agency said.

The SFA said members of the public who encounter poor hygiene practices in food establishments are encouraged not to patronize such establishments.

Instead they must report such practices to the SFA via the online feedback form (www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback) with details for follow-up investigations.
