Olivia Rodrigo Says She Was Interrogated by Police at the US Border: ‘She Was Very Scared’

Olivia Rodrigo says she had a frightening encounter with law enforcement at the border while returning to the US from Canada during her Guts World Tour.

Chatting with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show”, the singer-songwriter said that he was caught at border control after surrendering his passport for control.

“They knock on the door and say, ‘We need Olivia.’ I only played in a few shows, so I thought, “Maybe the girls will want an autograph.”

“And I go out. It’s 3 a.m. and I’m freaking out and they take me into a room, it’s an interrogation room and it’s like there’s a big police officer with a gun. And he goes, ‘Have you ever been arrested?’ “I’m thinking, ‘No, I wasn’t arrested,'” Rodrigo continued.

“‘Are you sure?’ ” he asked,” he continued, adding that he was told “he could go to prison for lying to a federal official.”

The singer explained: “I’m scared. It looks like I won’t be allowed into America. For example, I am very afraid. I feel like I’m having a panic attack. After 30 minutes of questioning, he looks at me and says, ‘What’s your name?’ ” he asks.

“‘Oh, there’s a girl who looks just like you, the same age as you, who’s been arrested multiple times, and her name is Olivia Rodriguez,'” the officer told her after writing down her last name.

“I was angry,” he added.

The “Vampire” singer has been on tour since February with 95 shows in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia. Canadian shows in Montreal and Toronto were in March. A Netflix special about the tour premiered this week.
