Asheville police say man was found trespassing and arrested on gun and drug charges

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) – The Asheville Police Department arrested a man Wednesday morning on multiple gun and drug-related charges.

Police say officers with the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, which supports law enforcement efforts in Asheville, encountered a suspicious person around 3:17 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers said 37-year-old Cody Wyatt Bullis was seen trespassing from behind flooded properties near Swannanoa River Road and South Tunnel Road and was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun, 13.67 grams of methamphetamine and 53.45 grams of marijuana.

Bullis was arrested on the following charges:

  • criminal possession of a firearm
  • change/remove weapon serial number
  • possession with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver schedule II
  • possession of marijuana with intent to sell or deliver
  • have schedule VI
  • carrying a concealed weapon
  • drug paraphernalia for marijuana
  • drug paraphernalia not for marijuana
  • second degree trespass

Bullis was transported to the Buncombe County Detention Center.
