Booysens Court sentenced a man to 10 years in prison for sexual assault

Sibusiso Khumalo (24) was sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to commit a sexual offense and 3 years in prison for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Judge Habib sentenced him at Booysens Magistrates’ Court on 29 October.

The court decided that the two sentences should be given simultaneously and that Khumalo was unfit to possess a firearm.

Khumalo attempted to unlawfully and deliberately rape a woman by undressing and getting on top of her without her consent in Turffontein on December 22 last year.

On the second charge, he was found guilty of unlawfully and deliberately assaulting the victim by striking her with open hands and fists, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
