If you watch Kamala Harris and Donald Trump’s rallies — and I’ve watched many in recent weeks — it might start to feel like a band is on a greatest hits tour.

In their separate matchups in Wisconsin on Wednesday night, each side played to what they saw as their strengths and underestimated the other side.

Donald Trump’s promises included: “To beat inflation quickly”; “drill baby drill,” short for increasing fossil fuel production in the United States; “drastically reduce taxes” for workers and small businesses; Take action against illegal immigration.

“Kamala, you’re fired,” he said at one point, using the catchphrase from the reality show The Apprentice.

Kamala Harris focused on abortion rights and appealed beyond just Democrats, saying she vowed to “seek common ground and common sense solutions to the challenges you face,” adding: “I’m not trying to score political points.”

He also addressed Donald Trump: “I don’t believe that people who disagree with me are enemies. He wants to put them in jail. “I’ll give them a place at my table.”

There seems to be little that both sides agree on, but they both know that voting is crucial — especially in the seven states that will decide the outcome.

These states are where their efforts will be focused and why both are in Wisconsin. We expect to see them there again before voting ends on November 5th.
