Miss Rwanda 2022 arrested for drunk driving

The 21-year-old, known for his influence in the fashion industry, was arrested by authorities on Tuesday, October 29, for drunk driving and driving without a license.

Officials said the former beauty pageant damaged infrastructure before fleeing the scene.

“This is not the first time he has been involved in such crimes,” they added.

He is expected to appear in court on Thursday, October 31 to answer the charges.

Divine rose to prominence on Rwanda’s pageant scene after winning the title of Miss Rwanda in 2022, a victory that brought her national recognition.

Rwanda is known for its strict traffic laws, which have imposed heavy fines for violations such as speeding and drunk driving in recent years.

Under Rwandan law, drivers under the influence face serious fines, immediate license suspension, and even imprisonment.
