I tried 5 tasks with Apple Intelligence and Grammarly; see which one is the winner

Because I write all day, every day, I rely on writing tools to correct my grammar, help with sentence structure, and make real-time corrections. When Apple Intelligence I discovered Apple Writing Tools when it first launched, wondering if it would replace it grammatically. At first glance, they seemed so different that you wouldn’t have to choose between the two.

But while editing and improving the text, I decided to put two players (Apple Intelligence and Grammarly) to the test to see how they compared. Apple Intelligence embedded in iOS 18.1 and works seamlessly on Apple devices; Grammarly, on the other hand, has proven itself as a platform-independent tool that is robust in terms of grammar and clarity.

To see how these tools stack up, I tested them both on five common tasks: Grammar correction, creative writing support, tone adjustment, contextual feedback, and real-time corrections. Here’s how each tool performed and why I ultimately found it. Apple Intelligence will be a better choice.

1. Grammar correction

grammatically: Famous for its in-depth and accurate grammar checks; After all, Grammarly is excellent at catching errors in texts and providing contextual corrections, especially in complex sentences. It’s perfect for professional documents, as it’s capable of finding everything from comma splices to run-on sentences. But sometimes Grammarly’s recommendations come off a little too harshly, making ordinary writing seem more formal than it needs to be. I often notice that it will take your tone to the point of creating flat content.
