Pixel Weather App Coming to More Phones

Google has finally made a real weather app for Android phones, but until now it’s been limited to Pixel 9 phones. Now it’s coming to other Pixel phones.

Google published Pixel Weather app For Pixel 6 and newer devices, including Pixel Tablet. you will need update the app on Google Play Store and allow app notifications and precise location. However, when you do this, you will have access to many new settings. This includes reconfigurable cards for weather blocks, a new two-column layout on tablets and foldables, and easy access to data such as precipitation, wind, sunrise and sunset, humidity and pressure, among other information such as the UV index. The app also has a weather map with a 6-hour precipitation forecast (available in the US, UK and most European countries) and also lets you see pollen counts in the UK, France, Italy and Germany.

You can also customize the units, theme, and settings of the app. The app will also try to summarize all the information it has into a nifty AI summary if you don’t want to read the whole thing, giving you tomorrow’s weather forecast for your current location every evening. It also allows you to set rainfall notifications by city. It aims to be the last weather app you’ll ever need, and while it remains relatively simple, it’s quite detailed. I’ve personally used this a few times on my own Pixel 9 Pro and it’s pretty cool.

The app is available as a new version of the com.google.android.apps.weather background service that powers current city temperatures in Google Clock. If you don’t see the update yet, you may need to update to Android 15 first, but make sure you don’t do that right now. If you are using Pixel 6.
