Former One Direction singer Liam Payne died after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina on October 16. He was reportedly under the influence of drugs on the tragic day. Liam had a history of drug addiction and had overdosed on drugs at least once before his death. Sources close to him revealed that he faced this struggle many times. Many were surprised when his agent signed him up for the Netflix show Building the Band, starring Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland, right after he left rehab. Those close to Liam had shared their concerns and, according to them, he was unfit to participate.

Speaking to Page Six, an insider explained: “His manager pushed him to join the show and there were many anxious messages between us. We were shocked, there was no way he would be in a position to do this. “Over the last few months, Liam has been in touch with people who care about him and have been trying to help him for a long time. “He was very isolated by a new group of people.”

In his final days, Liam Payne was under the watchful eye of a new manager who tried to influence his decisions, including forcing him to return to tour. According to someone close to the singer, the manager relocated Liam to Miami to isolate him from his friends and support system.

The source added that Liam’s life took a drastic turn after One Direction went on hiatus in 2015 and he struggled with drug addiction for several years. “He was heartbroken and never recovered. He was lost without his brothers,” the person said, referring to One Direction members Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.

Liam Payne’s friends and family are now wondering whether Netflix and the show’s producers checked to see if he was mentally and physically healthy enough to participate in Building the Band. However, a source affiliated with the show clarified that the late singer was only a guest judge and did not appear in every episode.

Liam Payne’s body is currently in Argentina, where his father Geoff Payne is making arrangements to bring him back to England for burial.
