New murder arrests over fatal stabbing of man in Bradford

Two more men have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Bradford.

Luqman Ishfaq, 23, was found with stab wounds in Barlow Street, Barkerend, on Monday (October 21) and later died in hospital following what police said was a “violent disorder incident”.

According to West Yorkshire Police, a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder last Friday and was later released on bail, while a 22-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday and remains in police custody.

In total, nine people were arrested on suspicion of murder as part of the investigation into Mr Ishfaq’s death, while another person was arrested for violent disorder.

Officers said all those arrested were released on bail except the 22-year-old man who was arrested on Wednesday.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said “a number” of investigations were ongoing into the circumstances surrounding Mr Ishfaq’s death.

Police had previously said he was one of four men who fled the VW Golf involved in the mayhem and were chased by an armed group.

“We continue to appeal for witnesses and information from citizens,” the force spokesman added.
