Florida State football There was a disaster and Mike Norvell hence it faces collateral damage.

Season (1-7, 1-6 ACC) cannot be corrected and it may go down in history as one of the worst seasons FSU historyDating back 50 years, Seminoles It finished 1-10.

Norvell is focused solely on preparing for Saturday’s game. North Carolinawhich will start at 15.30 Doak Campbell Stadium.

But Norvell also knows changes need to be made to get his program back on the winning path. The next season will be a tough one for Norvell as he tries to regain the fans’ trust.

FSU struggled to score points all year, ranking 132nd in the nation. The offense has yet to put up a 300-yard rushing performance. The Seminoles rank 131st in total offense and rushing.

The rest of the season should be an opportunity for Norvell to evaluate what changes he needs to make in the offseason. One of the changes mentioned was play calling missions.

“As we get to the end of the season, I will re-evaluate all aspects of the incident and say what is best for this team to move forward to win the next game,” Norvell said.

“That’s always going to be something I evaluate. I’ve done it as a play caller. I’ve done it as a non-play caller. Slightly different scopes. It’s not an ego thing to say, ‘Well, I’m calling the plays.’ I just want to win.”

Finding a suitable balance between ending an embarrassing season and finding a long-term solution are almost equal priorities for him.

“There’s a lot of work that goes on throughout the year to get ready for next year and the future,” Norvell said.

“But for the players I coach and the players we have, I have to give them everything I’ve got, making sure we’re focused on being the best we can be here this week and beyond. And also the program making sure that everything we do is prepared for what’s ahead.”

What is Mike Norvell’s plan for the offseason? Do you have one?

“We have a plan in December,” Norvell said when asked about preparations for the offseason.

“We spent a significant amount of our time during the bye week with our staff assessing where we are, what we need to do, and what positions we need. What does it look like for us to be able to take a big step toward that point?”

What plan does Norvell have? Will there be a change of coach? Will he turn around and recruit transfer portal players?

These are the kinds of questions Norvell will eventually have to answer heading into the offseason. But he’s confident the Seminoles will move in the right direction because young talent It has a squad that needs to be improved.

The early national signing period for high schools begins on December 4. This is also the period to recruit players to the team. transfer portal. FSU lost five transactions and has only eight transactions newbies inside Class of 2025.

“I’m excited about the improvement I’ve seen from them throughout the year,” Norvell said.

“I also know we have positions where we need to add elite-level players to complement what we currently have on our roster.”
