Police officer who fired after woman opened fire at Bristol Police Department was vindicated: official – NBC Connecticut

The Office of Inspector General says it has determined that a Bristol Police Department officer was justified in opening fire after a woman fired a gun at the Bristol Police Department last October.

Authorities said the woman was not shot.

Details are included in the report released Thursday morning by the Office of Inspector General Regarding the investigation into what happened on the night of October 5, 2023.

It is stated that after drinking at a local bar that night, Suzanne Laprise parked in front of the Bristol Police Department at around 23.38, entered the lobby, walked towards the window with a gun to her head and shot the glass. He shot the gun at the window and then at the door to the left of the window.

Officer Spencer Boisvert fired two shots, and after Laprise put down his gun, provided medical aid and arrested him, officers used a stun gun on him, the report said.

The Office of Inspector General said Officer Boisvert “actively used deadly force against members of the Bristol Police Department” and “acted justifiably in an attempt to stop the threat.”

“The investigation reveals that Officer Boisvert’s use of deadly force was reasonable in defense of a third party. Therefore, I conclude that the use of force was justified under Connecticut law. The report stated that the Office of Inspector General would not take any further action in this matter.
