1 arrested after shooting outside Painesville elementary school

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – Students and staff at Riverview Elementary School were in lockdown for nearly an hour after shots were fired in the school parking lot Thursday morning.

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the school around 9:10 a.m. and Lake County Sheriff Frank Leonbruno confirmed a person was in custody.

The curfew was lifted around 10.10 am

There were no injuries to students or staff, but Painesville Township firefighters said “several emergency vehicles arrived on scene” with non-life-threatening injuries.

School officials said the school day will continue as normal; However, if parents want to pick up their children, they can come to the school and give their signature. Please bring your ID.
