1 dead in Columbus attack Wednesday night

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Columbus police are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a woman Wednesday night.

Sekedra McCoy, 38, suffered multiple gunshot wounds during the incident and later died in Piedmont Columbus Regional, according to authorities.

Authorities confirmed the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of 20th Avenue in the Elizabeth Canty Apartment Homes area. While many police teams were dispatched to the scene, part of the road was closed with crime scene tape.

No information regarding the potential suspect or the motive behind the attack was released.
