Quincy man sentenced to seven years in prison for aggravated criminal sexual abuse after plea deal – Muddy River News

QUINCY- Justin Snow pleaded guilty Thursday morning in Adams County Circuit Court to two class two felony counts of criminal sexual abuse of a person under the age of 13.

The plea agreement is for a maximum concurrent sentence of seven years. Snow will be placed on the National Sex Offender registry.

A protection order was issued for the female victim and the victim’s mother. The decision extends the seven-year sentence, plus one year of probation, plus two years.

The victim’s mother shared an impact statement that embarrassed the defendant.

“…Shame on you, shame on you for hurting, exploiting and abusing the people closest to you. “I pray that no child or person is ever hurt by you again,” she said in a victim impact statement.

“My little girl should have been safe with you. You engaged in sexual acts with her, essentially playing the role of a father. You did a very despicable thing, and not only to my family, your family, your children. Every child should be safe with a father, even if it is not yours,” he continued. did the mother, in her impact statement.

Assistant State’s Attorney Laura Keck said she was pleased with the outcome and said, “Given what he faced under the law, this is a good sentence.”

Keck said he doesn’t think it should be a 50 percent penalty based on good behavior credit. Snow was sentenced to seven years in prison, but will likely serve less than 3.5 years of his sentence, which includes 238 days. Prisoners can have their sentences commuted by exhibiting positive behavior in prison.

“I think it should be an 85 percent penalty, but the law says 50 percent,” Keck said. “We put it at exactly seven in case it gets 50 percent.”
