Corrections and Clarifications: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated when the alleged abduction was made to 911.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, a jogger Wednesday morning found a woman’s body in a San Tan Valley farm field west of Ganzel Road and south of Skyline Drive.

About 10 minutes after the jogger called 911, a second call came in about a nearby kidnapping, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Sheriff’s Office said the alleged kidnapping turned out to be a false call made by the deceased’s son.

Deputies confirmed on social media that the deceased 38-year-old woman, Mary Collier, was the alleged kidnapper and the victim of a murder. The victim’s 18-year-old son was investigated as a suspect. The man was taken to the hospital to be treated for self-inflicted injuries, officials said.

He will face first-degree murder charges after he is released from the hospital, authorities said.

The investigation was continuing.
