Auburn man arrested for driving under the influence after overdose in Throop

An Auburn man was arrested on Oct. 23 after Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies found him unresponsive behind the wheel, suffering from an overdose in Throop Township. Sheriff Brian Schenck said deputies responded to a call about a male collapsed in a truck near Turnpike Road and Northup Road around 3:47 p.m.

After arriving, deputies administered two doses of Narcan and revived the driver, identified as Philip E. Kijowski, 35. After receiving treatment at Auburn State Hospital, Kijowski was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, among other traffic violations.

Kijowski was processed at the Public Safety Building, appeared in CAP Court later that evening, and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Throop Court at a later date.
