The Mozambican accused of raping and murdering six-year-old Amantle Samane is expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Friday, November 1.

Simiao faces charges of rape and murder, as well as kidnapping and violating the Immigration Act.

The defendant appeared in court Friday morning but showed signs of physical distress.

The court heard allegations that he was attacked by prison guards but said it could not identify the alleged attackers. SABC News.

The case was postponed to December 3 after the person who complained about the injuries he received in his stomach, legs and body took a short break.

Simiao is scheduled to be hospitalized before being taken into custody. It is believed that he will still apply for bail once the application date is finalized.

Murder of Amantle Samane

Police say six-year-old Amantle Samane was playing with her friends on the streets of Orlando when she was allegedly called by Simiao.

Her partially naked body was found in an empty shed two streets away from her home on Monday, October 21.

“It was claimed that the suspect raped and killed the girl in the hut. The matter was reported to the ministry policeGauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed this.

Simiao was arrested on October 24 and appeared in the Protea Magistrate’s Court for the first time the next day.

Police Minister Senzo Mchunu said he was outraged that Simiao appeared in court for the first time.

Speaking to the media outside court, Mchunu referred to Samane’s statement. murder as a “major” and “devastating” tragedy.

“It was difficult just to look at this man in court because you get emotional when you look at him; “You get a feeling of anger,” the minister said.
