Guernsey Medical Expert Group sanctioned over data error

Dr Steve Evans, chief executive of MSG, which is contracted to provide secondary care in Guernsey, said: “We have cooperated fully throughout the investigation process and agreed to the executive order.

“This issue arose due to a lack of clarity in a provision in our data processing agreement with HSC.

“We recognize that it is important for data subjects to receive timely information and have already apologized to concerned parents for the uncertainty here.”

He added that this was something MSG was “now moving forward with the help of HSC so that the position is clarified going forward.”

“We want to reassure the islanders that this is not an issue of breach of patient privacy and we remain committed to the highest standards of protection for patients.”
