Pittsburgh Panthers They went 7-0 for the first time since 1982 and became one of only eight undefeated FBS teams in the country.

The Panthers’ offense is humming behind speedy QB Eli Holstein. Pitt is averaging 40 points per contest and they can beat teams with Holstein’s arm or legs. Holstein threw for 1,805 yards and 17 touchdowns, plus an additional 286 rushing yards and three TDs.

Holstein and Panthers face opportunistic attack SMU Mustangs Defense with 17 turnovers and four defensive TDs. They surrendered the fourth-fewest yards (327) and points per tilt (21.7) in the conference, but they allowed more than 21 points in three of their previous five.

Meanwhile, Pitt’s defense may be better than its offense. They surrendered an average of 14 points with 10 sacks and 5 picks. Pitt is also allowing 347 total yards, which amounts to an ACC sixth-best 22 points per game.

The Pitt stop unit will have its hands full. SMU ranks fourth in the ACC in scoring (39 points) behind sophomore Kevin Jennings and is averaging 443.5 yards per game from scrimmage.
