UIPD investigates armed robbery at Joe’s Brewery | News

CHAMPAIGN — University of Illinois police are investigating an armed robbery at Joe’s Brewery that sparked campus-wide emergency declarations early Friday morning.

Police were dispatched to the bar at 1:01 a.m. Friday for a report of a robbery, and the first officer arrived on the scene a minute later.

According to victims at the scene, a man entered the bar through the exit, pointed a gun at the employee next to the register, took the money from the register and returned through the exit.

No shots were fired, but the suspect pointed the gun at three employees.

University police continue to patrol the area and review security cameras and automatic license plate readers.
