Young Thug Released From Prison After Confessing His Crime

Young Thug, who pleaded guilty to drug and firearm possession in the YSL RICO case and spent more than 700 days in jail, has been released from prison. Stay tuned to see the hip-hop community’s reaction and more on the case.

Young Thug is returning home after more than 700 days behind bars. And the hip-hop community is celebrating. Travis Scott was the first of Thug’s peers to greet the Atlanta rapper on social media, saying, “On my way home my brudda,” as did T.I.: “Welcome home little bruddah, It’s been too long… Time to come back!! !”

Even Sexyy Red chimed in and said, “THEY REMOVED THE TWIN!!!” he wrote. referring to their physical similarities. Judge Paige Reese Whitaker sentenced Thug to 15 years of probation with no prison time.

Judge Paige Reese Whitaker:
I know you’re talented and even if you choose to continue rapping, you should try to use your influence to show kids that this isn’t the right path.

Tetris Kelly:
Before the court’s decision, Thugger addressed Judge Whitaker.

Young Bandit:
I am sad. During these last two years of my life you are truly, truly, honestly the best thing that ever happened to me. You made everything fair for me and everyone on both sides. I apologize to everyone for having to take the extra time. I know you’re all making more money, but I’m sorry you’re having to take extra time away from your family, and I hope you have it in your heart to let me come home.

Tetris Kelly:
Thug was arrested along with 27 others in May 2022 in a sweeping 56-count indictment for violating Georgia’s RICO Act. He has spent more than two years behind bars since what became the state’s longest-ever criminal case.
