Police said the mother who allegedly made a ‘suicide pact’ with her 10-year-old daughter was arrested

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX/Gray News) – A Mississippi mother and her 10-year-old daughter allegedly made a “suicide pact” and decided to take pills, but only the child followed suit, according to authorities.

On July 6, 2024, Ocean Springs officers responded to the Studio 6 Motel on Bienville Boulevard for a report of a child overdosing.

When first responders arrived, they found a young woman unresponsive.

Officers found numerous unknown capsules and empty prescription pill bottles in a green backpack next to the unresponsive girl. WLOX reported.

Police said the vials of medication were prescribed to the child’s mother, Brittney Hensley.

Hensley and her 10-year-old daughter were transported separately to the hospital, where emergency doctors intubated them.

Her daughter was quickly taken to the hospital.

Further investigation revealed that Hensley and her daughter agreed to take the drug as part of a “suicide pact”.

Police said Hensley left the area during the investigation and went to Alabama.

He was arrested and charged with felony child abuse and given $500,000 bail.

Her daughter was taken into Mississippi CPS custody and remains there.
