Ozark police investigating Halloween stabbing death

OZARK, Ala. (WTVY) – The Ozark Police Department and Dale County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a homicide.

According to police, officers responded to a stabbing that occurred Thursday night in the 100 block of Frank Marshall Road.

They found Eric Lamont Eutsey, 43, of Ozark, lying in the road with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Dale Medical Center for his injuries.

Investigators searched a nearby home and car and spoke with witnesses. Based on witness statements, 58-year-old Marcus Lee Slater of Ozark was identified as the suspect.

Witnesses reported seeing Slater running toward Faust Avenue after the stabbing. Ozark Police dispatched a K-9 tracking team with assistance from the Dale County WASP aerial unit, the Dothan K-9 division and the ADOC K-9 division to locate Slater.

He is still free and wanted for murder.

The Ozark Police Department is asking anyone with information about Slater’s whereabouts to contact local law enforcement.
