Nick Mcnew shares his passion behind running for North Platte City Council ward 4

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – City Council candidate Nick McNew is emphasizing the need for unified representation in North Platte. He said he believes the divide between the north and south sides of the city needs to be addressed.

“I don’t like the division between north and south of North Platte,” McNew said. “We are all one North Platte, and we are all one community.”

McNew, who has lived on the north side since childhood, said he understands the area’s unique challenges, especially its underdevelopment. He owns McNew’s Unlimited, a golf cart dealership, and is heavily involved in the community, coaching his sons’ sports teams and building relationships with area residents.

“I build relationships and trust by getting to know people in the community,” McNew said. “I feel like people trust me to make decisions, listen to their concerns, and be a platform for them.” It aims to create a space where residents can voice their needs and concerns.

McNew’s family supported him throughout his campaign and they plan to throw a watch party together on election night.

Election day is Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Voters are reminded to bring their ID to their local polling office to vote. click Here To see what types of IDs are accepted.
