Crime down on long-troubled NYC block: City Hall

Crime is down on East 14th Street, and it only took one stabbing.

Since June, when an apparently insane man stabbed three people near Avenue A at East 14th Street. Killed 38 year old man and seriously injuring two others, Felony crimes on the block are down more than 57%, according to data provided by Mayor Adams’ office.

There were six incidents in the 28-day period ending Oct. 13, compared to 14 incidents in the same period in 2023, the data showed.

The mayor’s office said 911 calls related to the problem area were down about 34% in a 28-day period compared to the same period in 2023, while 311 calls were down about 44%.

“The undeniable progress on 14th Street demonstrates the proven success of our community-focused, multi-agency approach to quality of life and public safety challenges,” Adams said.
