The death of a woman found seriously injured near Portage Place is being investigated as a homicide

The death of a 28-year-old Winnipeg woman who was found with life-threatening injuries in the city center Thursday afternoon and later died is being investigated as a homicide.

Officers were called to the 100 block of The Promenade, the street just north of the Portage Place shopping center, shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday on a report of an unresponsive woman.

They found the life-threatening injured person and provided medical attention. The woman was taken to hospital in critical condition, where she was pronounced dead, police said in a statement on Saturday.

She was identified as 28-year-old Briannah Clowes. Police said his family has been notified.
