Sexual attacker living in a camper was arrested after changing his identity

A sexual predator living in a camper was arrested after apparently switching his driver’s license.

Steven Ray Gunter, 59, of Ocklawaha, was held without bond Thursday in the Marion County Jail on charges of fraud and two parole violations.

Gunter was convicted in Marion County in 2002 of sexual assault on a victim under the age of 12 and lewd and lascivious crimes against a child under the age of 16. He used a Sharpie to scratch the words “sexual predator” onto his driver’s license.

Gunter served time in state prison from 2007 until August 10, 2024.
