Bills Activate Von Miller After Four-Game Suspension

Bills bring in outside linebacker Von Miller after Suspended four games for violating NFL’s personal conduct policy.

The NFL did not specify why Miller was suspended, but the three-time All-Pro was arrested in December 2023 on domestic violence charges that sparked a league investigation. Miller denied the allegations and the commissioner Roger Goodell He declined to issue a suspension after an initial review in March, but it’s possible the additional details could catch the league’s attention and force them to take action.

Miller’s suspension sidelined him in all four games the Bills played in October, but Buffalo still went 3-1 in that span and held opponents to under 16 points per game. Their passing offense took a small step back in Miller’s absence, recording eight sacks in the last four games after 12 in the first four games.

Miller will return to a rotational role among the Bills’ offensive linemen on Sunday against the Dolphins. This season, according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), 76.3% of his 93 defensive snaps were spent rushing the passer; This is consistent with Miller’s usage since arriving in Buffalo in 2022.

Miller took a pay cut this summer, reducing his 2024 salary from $17.5 million to $8.855 million, but he can earn up to $20 million with incentives. This move seems like a smart move by the Bills, as Miller’s suspension has greatly diminished his chances of fulfilling all of his incentives.
