IND vs NZ: Sarfaraz Khan’s father and brother stunned with his duck in Mumbai

Indian batsman Sarfaraz Khan’s father Naushad and brother Naushad were left stunned after a four-ball duck on Day 2 of the third Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Sarfaraz came out to bat at number eight in the second session after Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed.

But, His stay at the crease was short-lived as he slotted Ajaz Patel into goalkeeper Tom Blundell’s gloves and was dismissed for a four-ball duck. Following his dismissal, Sarfaraz took a long walk towards the mansion while his father Naushad and brother Musheer looked shocked in the stands.

Earlier in the day, India resumed their innings with Shubman Gill (31*) and Rishabh Pant (1*) at 86/4. Pant played as usual and bowled the New Zealand spinners, disrupting their lines and lengths. He even got a life in his innings after being dropped by Matt Henry and brought up the fastest half-century against the Indians in just 36 balls against New Zealand.

Gill and Pant help India take a slight lead

Gill also brought up the seventh half-century of his career as the duo added 96 runs for the fifth wicket. Pant was dismissed for hitting 60 (59) lbw against Ish Sodhi but Gill scored a magnificent 90 with the help of seven fours and a six.

For New Zealand, Ajaz Patel continued his love affair with the Wankhede Stadium by claiming his second five-wicket nod at the ground in as many matches. He recorded figures of 5/103 in 21.4 overs and prevented India from taking a huge lead in the first innings.

Later in the second innings Akash Deep gave India a perfect start breaking Tom Latham’s stumps in the first round. The right-arm pacer brought up a peach delivery that came sharply around the wicket towards Latham, breaching his defense to dismiss him. Following his dismissal, Akash was also seen celebrating aggressively as New Zealand were dealt an early blow.
