The body of 30-year-old Echuca was found at home, he was arrested at the scene

A Mooroopna man has been detained by police after a 56-year-old man was found dead at a house in Echuca on Saturday night.

Victoria Police said in a statement that emergency services were called to the property on McSwain Road at around 7.30pm.

The rural property is located just west of the Echuca town area.

Officers arrested a 30-year-old man at the scene, police said.

They said the men knew each other.

It is understood the man, who was in police custody, was not questioned and no charges were filed.
