Michigan candidate previously sold access to sexually explicit content online

Lansing — Democrat Angela Jones, who is running for the Michigan State House this fall, says she has previously been open about selling sexually explicit images and videos of herself on the website OnlyFans, a detail that has become a point of contention in recent days because of her race.

“My district knows this, and my supporters don’t see it as something that prevents me from doing a good job representing their voice,” Jones said in response to questions from The Detroit News. “I don’t pretend to be a perfect person when I keep the skeletons in my closet that most of your politicians are sick and tired of.

“This is a testament to my transparency and how I believe our government and government officials should be transparent.”

Jones, of Niles in southwestern Michigan, runs a photography business and is challenging incumbent state Rep. Brad Paquette, a Republican from Berrien Springs.

On Monday, eight days before Election Day, Paquette, a former educator, criticized the Michigan American Federation of Teachers on social media. I support JonesHe said the union group was supporting “an online sex worker” instead.

Paquette included in her post an image of the 2022 online promotion of sexually explicit videos featuring Jones.

OnlyFans allows people to sell content, including sexual photos and videos, to subscribers who pay for access.

“We have very different backgrounds, as I am a public school teacher, and she was open about doing sex work online until last year,” Paquette said. Added to another social media post on Friday.

“I don’t want to focus on him,” Paquette said of Jones in an interview with The Detroit News. “He’s a good person.”

Paquette maintained that his criticism was directed at the union. The American Federation of Teachers did not respond to The News’ request for comment.

Jones said her work on OnlyFans included sexually explicit images and videos of herself and her husband, with access sold to consenting adults. At its peak on the website, it said it was in the top 0.02% of creators in the world and had more than 8,000 subscribers. She operated under the name Anji Monique. “He made over $100,000 in the first few months,” he said.

Jones said he is proposing sales in 2022. However, it said its sales dropped as of November 2022 because someone leaked its subscriber-focused content online in July 2022. She said she had removed her explicit videos from OnlyFans by April 2023.

“OnlyFans had a unique platform that allowed users to purchase exclusive content and send direct messages with their favorite creators,” Jones said. “I think we can all agree to some extent that men exploit women.

“Most of your dating sites are men looking for women for free sex/sexual assistance or just to chat because they’re bored or need an ego boost. At least OnlyFans had a wall of protection (I never had any expectation that I would) Any of my subscribers I was going to have sex with someone) and I was paid to talk about everything from their workdays to their deepest, darkest, secret fantasies that they were embarrassed to tell others about.

“But the biggest advantage for OnlyFans was that I had control over my content and consent over who accessed it,” Jones added.

Jones said Paquette referenced Jones images on Google, but those images were stolen from her platform without her permission, which is illegal.

In a statement on Facebook Friday, Jones said Paquette jeopardized her safety by posting her photo to “discredit both the union and me simply because she did not receive approval.”

According to Jones’ campaign website, his platform includes protecting workers’ rights, agriculture and equality.

“I see how partisan politics is tearing our communities apart, and I want to put an end to it and bridge this divide to reunite and heal our communities,” Jones’ website says.

Paquette is the biggest favorite in the race. He won re-election in 2022 against a different Democratic opponent, Naomi Ludman. 65% of votes.

Paquette’s campaign website says she is a “freedom-loving conservative Republican.” He was first elected to the state legislature in 2018.
