N-HYPPADEC Will Establish a Youth Empowerment Unit

Director General of the National Hydro Power Production Area Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, said the commission will establish an entrepreneurship and empowerment unit as part of a medium-term plan for youth empowerment.

He stated this yesterday at the start-up pack distribution ceremony to 1,500 youths receiving skills acquisition and entrepreneurship training from Niger State.

The director general said 5,000 youths from the states that benefited from the training received training and the final distribution was carried out in Niger State and all of them received their packages.

“We are discussing the idea of ​​establishing an Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Unit in the commission, which is part of our medium-term strategic plan. The unit will be responsible for coordinating all our activities related to entrepreneurship, empowerment and job creation.

“We are also working to include advanced skill training in the program. Further training will target unemployed degree holders. “We will subject the beneficiaries to three-year apprenticeship training to equip them with skills that will help them start their own businesses,” he said.

Yelwa said the training will target advanced skills such as laptop and phone repair, solar installation, CCTV installation, electrical installation, computer programming, web development, copywriting and editing.

He lauded the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Mohammed Bago while acknowledging the roles of the Technology and Innovation Institute (MITI), National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for the success of the first phase of the programme. for their support.
