Heavy rainfall and isolated severe storms are possible.

QUAD CITIES, IA/III. (KWQC) — The rain will continue until the morning hours on Sunday, and some countries will see a lot of rain. The first rain leaves the area in the afternoon, giving us a short break before the heavier rain will arrive from Sunday night into Monday. Temperatures will remain stable into the mid-60s.

Heavy rains and strong to severe thunderstorms are possible on Monday, meaning Monday is FIRST WARNING DAY.

Heavy rains will hit the region on Monday morning, and the heaviest activity will be east of the river. We take a short break from the action before showers and storms reappear in the afternoon. A few storms may become severe, with damaging winds and a brief tornado or two. The Storm Prediction Center has areas along and south of I-80 at level 1 risk for severe storms.

The main concern on Monday will be the potential for very heavy rainfall. It’s not out of the question to see local areas get up to 6″ of rainfall when all is said and done. While this will significantly improve our drought, it could cause flooding in some low-lying areas and roads. A brief pause in activity is expected Sunday afternoon, take time to check your basement sump pumps. Another quick task that can reduce flooding is to make sure all of your drains are clear of leaves and debris.
