Kolkata: Following the disturbing incident of rape and murder of a second-year medical student at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, junior doctors are demanding CBI to take stringent action. They demand the death penalty for those responsible for this heinous crime.

The representative of the assistant doctors is Dr. Rajdeep emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. Highlighting the widespread anger and demands for justice in the medical community, he said, “We want the CBI to take action against everyone involved in this rape and murder. All the accused should be given death penalty.” he said.

He appealed to the CBI to prepare a detailed chargesheet containing all the names involved, including those who were not named initially: “A strong chargesheet should be prepared against those whose names were not included in the chargesheet.”

As November 9 approaches, 90 days after the tragic event, Dr. Rajdeep stated that the protests will continue until justice is provided for the victim. “On November 9, we will showcase all the important events that have happened so far in this case. I want to say that we will not stop, the protests will continue.”

Previously, on October 22, assistant doctors went on a hunger strike to demand justice regarding the RG Kar Medical Faculty case. This protest ended after a two-hour meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Nabanna state secretariat.

The tragedy occurred on August 9 when a second-year medical student was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The shocking nature of the incident led to widespread protests in West Bengal and doctors from all over the country expressed their solidarity with junior doctors in Kolkata.
