Reasons for Ezekiel Elliott’s shocking Cowboys bench appearance revealed

Reports have emerged as to why the Cowboys decided to drop running back Ezekiel Elliott home after their trip to Atlanta.

Multiple outlets reported Saturday: Elliott would be a healthy scratch for unspecified “disciplinary reasons”.

NFL Media reporter Jane Slater reported on sunday Elliott is said to be on the bench for some work as he has reportedly been “distracted” this season.

“Aside from the usual delays, Friday’s meeting was the last straw, with three teams missing their meeting. Both parties decided it was best for him not to go to Atlanta,” Slater wrote to X.

Elliott, 29, spent his first seven NFL seasons with the Cowboys and returned to Dallas this year after playing last season in New England.

This hasn’t been a productive meeting, as Elliott has 48 rushes for 149 yards (3.1 yards per carry) and two touchdowns in seven games this year.

The Cowboys are scheduled to bring forward Rico Dowdle and Dalvin Cook to return to Atlanta.

Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones came under scrutiny for not pursuing star running back Derrick Henry in free agency last season.

Henry after signing with the Ravens in March revealed in a radio interview That the cowboys “never called.”

Henry has 145 rushes for 946 yards (a whopping 6.5 yards per carry) and nine touchdowns in eight games this year.

During a harsh interview on local radio Back in October in Dallas, Jones still didn’t believe Henry would make a big difference for the Cowboys this year.

“In my opinion, we’re not playing very good football right now, and that goes beyond whether or not Derrick Henry is there. He’s having a career year. I don’t know if he’s going to have a career year in our situation,” Jones said. “He’s a really good complement for the type of offense they run. “We are definitely not carrying out this type of attack.”
