Strictly Come Dancing star Nadiya Bychokova shared the “breaking news” announcement with her followers just hours before heading to the famous ballroom.

Nadiya, who posed in a series of dazzling photos in a tight sequined dress, revealed she had suffered the painful injury: “BREAKING NEWS.

“I can’t believe it but I broke my thumb at rehearsals for Strictly this week. It was a complete accident and the team were looking after me but it’s huge, purple and really painful.

“I love dancing but sometimes you have to be tough. I’m still good to be a part of the show and I can’t wait for tonight. It’ll be me standing behind Claudia, looking amazing, with a big thumbs up.”

The dancer was soon inundated with messages of support, as former dance partner Dan Walker noted: “Sorry to hear about my partner. I hope he recovers nicely and quickly.”

One fan said: “Get well soon, we will miss your beautiful dancing!” and another agreed: “No to this! I hope he gets better quickly.”

A third chimed in: “I’m sorry to hear that! I hope your thumb heals very soon! You look gorgeous as always.”

A fourth said: “Broken toes, broken thumbs…you are well and truly unstoppable (and so very beautiful).” A fifth agreed: “Oh. I hope he recovers quickly… these pictures are stunning.”

The Sun reported Nadiya’s accident earlier in the week and an insider said: “When Nadiya fell while training with other professionals. She suffered a broken thumb and it looked incredibly painful.”

“Everyone was gathered around her. Nadiya’s thumb was badly swollen and bruised but she didn’t want to disappoint anyone and was determined she could do the pre-recorded trick.

“A doctor eventually cleared him and he will be able to film, but he may be treated with kid gloves by his professional friends.”
