La Crosse man accused of stealing package from apartment

Cody L. Hansen was charged in La Crosse County Circuit Court with a single felony count of burglary.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to 4445 Mormon Coulee Road on Sept. 23. There, the landlord told police that three tenants had reported packages stolen the previous day. The landlord identified Hanson, a former tenant, as a suspect and provided security footage to police.

In the footage, Hansen can be seen entering two doors by opening them with a screwdriver. It then shows Hansen collecting numerous packages before exiting the building.

The video shows Hansen with a woman who assisted in the entry and theft, the complaint states. The woman’s identity has not yet been determined.

Hansen was arrested on October 16. He was released on $1,500 signature bail. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and has a pretrial conference scheduled for Dec. 13.
