NDIS providers try to rule carers ‘napping’ is break, not work

Employers are looking at industry-wide changes to ensure caregivers who stay in a client’s home do not count that time toward overtime pay; This fuels unions’ accusations that employers are creating “nightmare” shifts.

The Australian Industry Group, whose case began at the Fair Work Commission on Monday, warned unions’ “new” interpretation of overtime was unfunded and threatened to inflate costs under the National Disability Insurance Scheme and send providers to the wall.
