23 people died when the bus crashed into the Pauri-Almora border crossing; U’khand CM orders suspension of local ARTOs

In a tragic incident, at least 23 people were killed and many others injured when a bus belonging to Garhwal Motors Users crashed into a gorge near Kupi in Ramnagar in Uttarakhand on the Pauri-Almora Border on Monday.

The 42-seater bus was carrying passengers from Pauri to Almora when the accident occurred.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team is already in the area for relief work and the injured are being admitted to nearby hospitals.

Quickly responding to the disaster, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered the suspension of ARTO (Assistant Regional Transport Officer) in the respective districts of Pauri and Almora.

Additionally, the Prime Minister announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh for his relatives and Rs 1 lakh for those injured in the accident.

“Very sad news has come about the deaths of passengers in the unfortunate bus accident that occurred in Marchula, Almora district. The district administration was instructed to carry out relief and rescue operations quickly. Local government and SDF teams at the scene of the accident are working quickly to evacuate the injured and take them to the nearest health center for treatment. “Instructions have also been issued for air transportation of seriously injured passengers if necessary,” CM Dhami said in a post on site ‘X’.

He also directed the Commissioner of Kumaon Division to conduct a competent investigation into the incident to ascertain the cause of the accident.
