(Society)Former police officer arrested in Gwanak-gu for $6 billion rent fraud

The financial crime investigation team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency arrested and extradited a man in his 40s on fraud and other charges on the 23rd of last month.

Police also sent an acquaintance of Lee’s name, who gave him his name when he bought the villa, without arrest for allegedly violating the Real Name Real Estate Act.

After retiring in 2022, Lee is accused of not returning rent deposits worth 6 billion won to tenants while running a villa rental business in Gwanak-gu, Seoul.

According to the police investigation, it was confirmed that Lee showed the victims his public service card at the time of the contract and gave them reassurance.
