Baltasar Engonga, Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF) in Equatorial Guinea, has been arrested for allegedly recording more than 400 sex tapes featuring the wives and sisters of prominent figures in the country.

The shocking allegations emerged during a fraud investigation that led ANIF officials to conduct an impromptu search of Engonga’s home and office.

A search revealed several CDs containing explicit videos of Engonga’s encounters with various married women, The Punch reported.

The scandal is said to involve recordings of high-profile individuals such as the sister of Equatorial Guinea’s President, the wife of the Chief of Police and the wives of around 20 government ministers.

A senior official familiar with the investigation said:

“This is a breach of public trust that shakes the foundations of our administration.”

Explicit images sparked public reaction

The footage, initially discovered in Engonga’s personal office, was reportedly recorded with the consent of those involved.

However, the videos were later leaked online, causing a media uproar and questions It’s about privacy and ethics among elites in Equatorial Guinea, Leadership reports.

Local media platform Ahora EG noted the unprecedented nature of the scandal and said:

“Most notably, there were some scenes that took place, including when he was seen sleeping with a woman in his work office, next to the National Flag.”

The report also revealed that the Executive was taking measures to counter the damage this scandal had caused to the country’s image.

Equatorial Guinea government took decisive action

Following the scandal, the Equatorial Guinea government moved quickly to suspend any officials involved in similar abuses.

Vice President Nguema Mangue emphasized the importance of ethical behavior and said:

“Morality and respect are fundamental in our management. “Irresponsible attitudes that will risk the trust of citizens will not be allowed.”

Attorney General Nzang Nguema also weighed in on the situation, explaining that although the videos imply consent, the law does not classify consensual sexual relations as a crime unless coercion or violence is proven.

“The possibility of spreading an infectious disease through these sexual interactions makes the situation even more critical,” he warned.
