Woman stabbed in DeKalb, suspect charged with attempted murder

DEKALB, Illinois (WIFR) – A woman who was stabbed multiple times in DeKalb is expected to be OK, police say.

Edgar Perkins, 44, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, DeKalb police reported they were called to the 800 block of Greenbrier Road for a stabbing victim. Police said they found a woman with multiple stab wounds on her body. He was taken to a nearby hospital before being taken to a Rockford hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Investigators said Perkins voluntarily surrendered to a Northern Illinois Police officer following the stabbing. According to the DeKalb Police Department, Perkins and the woman had an estranged relationship.
