Man who shot Bryan police officer sentenced to life in prison

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Joshua Herrin, accused of shooting two Brazos County law enforcement officers in December 2022, was sentenced to life in prison Monday afternoon.

KBTX’s Morgan Riddell He gave information from the courthouse to provide detailed information.

Herrin was convicted last Thursday of aggravated assault on a public servant. The prosecution focused on the Bryan police officer Herrin shot, and the jury found him guilty.

During the sentencing portion of the trial, the prosecution focused on Herrin’s shooting of a Brazos County Sheriff’s deputy.

Herrin was convicted of shooting the Bryan officer during a routine traffic stop before stealing his patrol car, leading county authorities on a manhunt that lasted more than 12 hours, and ultimately shooting the deputy before he was shot himself.
