Fresno businessman sentenced to prison for child sexual abuse

A Fresno businessman was sentenced to more than two decades in prison for sexually abusing a minor.

Todd Mumma, 61, will be sentenced to 10 years of supervised release upon release, during which time his access to minors, computers and the internet will be restricted.

Directing news: Mumma was convicted in March of sexually abusing and attempting to sexually abuse a minor.

  • Mumma used digital video recording devices hidden in a home to create sexually explicit images of a minor.
  • He then edited the recordings on a computer and transferred the most sexually explicit images to his mobile phone; here the footage was stored in a password-protected application and viewed repeatedly.

Big picture: In addition to being sentenced to 21 years in prison, Mumma was also ordered to register as a sex offender and pay a fine of $160,000.

  • Mumma was also ordered to pay $71,200 in restitution to the victim and $55,100 in special assessments.
  • Mumma is the owner of business technology company Select Business Systems.
