Chilean football star Arturo Vidal and players from the first-division Colo Colo team are being investigated for sexual assault, the prosecutor’s office in Santiago said Monday.

The office said that the investigation was initiated after a complaint was made against the players, but no one has been arrested so far.

The investigation did not specify which of Vidal’s teammates was targeted.

Chilean media said the alleged attack took place early Monday at a Santiago nightclub where a group of Colo Colo players were celebrating their birthday.

Police chief Gerardo Aravena said 37-year-old former Barcelona, ​​​​Bayern Munich, Juventus and Inter Milan midfielder Vidal was brought to the police station for an ID check.

Vidal scored 34 goals in 142 matches with the Chilean national team.

The investigation comes just days after former Chile national team player Jorge Valdivia, 41, was taken into preventive detention after being accused of rape.

Valdivia denied the accusations, saying he “had a consensual relationship with an adult woman.”

He was part of the so-called “Golden Generation” that led Chile to victory in the 2015 Copa America. He also played for the national team in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
